Stephen gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, FRCS, in 1996.In 2011 Stephen was awarded Fellowship of the Australasian College of Phlebology and is now an accredited supervisor and trainer for the College.

The clinic has been the first to introduce new techniques into NZ including VenaCureEVLT. The staff are enthusiastic about the results of VenaCure EVLT, and have taught professors, surgeons, GP’s and sonographers in the technique.

Mr Ferrar has been a specialist in Vascular and Endovascular surgery in Hamilton since 2000. After qualifying from Otago Medical School in 1987 he trained in surgery in London and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1991. He then trained in Vascular Surgery working with Sir Norman Browse at St Thomas’ Hospital in London. He returned to Auckland for the Australasian General Surgery training and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1996. He undertook post-fellowship training in Vascular Surgery in Hamilton and in Melbourne before completing the FRACS in Vascular Surgery in 1999. He is also fully qualified sonologist in Vascular Ultrasound and holds a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound from the Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine. He is a consultant at Health Waikato and Director of the Vascular Ultrasound Lab at Waikato Hospital. Mr Ferrar is an experienced and skilled surgeon. He has a particular interest in in the management of varicose veins and offers a full range of treatments including VenaCure EVLT.

As a specialist general surgeon Rick Cirolli has been involved with varicose vein treatment for over 20 years. Recently he has teamed up with Browen Allen, a very experiencied sonographer who has been working with VenaCure EVLT since 2001. Together they offer Gisborne excellent experience in treating variscose veins with the VenaCure EVLT and Ultrasound Guided Sclerotheraphy (UGS). Rick and Browen are very pleased with the results and would recommend the VenaCure EVLT as first choice treatment for this condition.

Together with Associate Professor John Morton he established the Vascular Surgery Unit at Christchurch Hospital in 1988, remaining a Consultant Surgeon here until 2004. During this time he was an Examiner in General Surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and actively involved in the teaching of medical students, house surgeons and registrars at Christchurch Hospital.
Since 2004 John has continued full time private practice, with specialist general, breast and vascular surgery at St George’s Hospital and Southern Cross Hospital.
With 30 years experience in treating vascular conditions John has a great interest in varicose veins, particularly the introduction of modern treatments like VenaCure EVLT and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy.

Mr Malcolm Gordon

As a NZ Medical Council registered specialist Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon, Malcolm Gordon’s daily work concentrates on minimally invasive treatments for the maximum benefit of his patients.
Malcolm graduated as Bachelor of Medicine (MB) and Bachelor of Surgery (ChB) from the University of Otago School of Medicine in 1984. After completing lhis surgical training in Christchurch, Malcolm gained Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1992.
In 2004 Malcolm set up the Christchurch Vein Clinic with John Mercer, VenaCure EVLT for varicose veins to the South Island and concentrating on the treatment of this debilitating condition. The Christchurch Vein Clinic provides a comprehensive range of contemporary venous treatments from a dedicated site. He has subsequently amassed a vast experience in varicose vein treatments, with over 5000 treatments performed.
